City Hosted the #MakeMiamiCount Census Kickoff Event

City Hosting #MakeMiamiCount Census Kickoff Event

On October 15, 2019 the City of Miami officially kicked off its 2020 U.S. Census campaign, #MakeMiamiCount, to encourage all Miamians to participate in the national headcount, which begins in April 2020.

Miami City Manager Emilio T. Gonzalez, Assistant U.S. Regional Census Manager Manny Landivar and members of the City's Complete Count Committee will join City employees for the kickoff event at the City's administrative headquarters in downtown Miami. U.S. Census personnel distributed information about the upcoming census count, and attendees were able to enjoy local food vendors.
The 2020 Census has the potential to make a major impact on the Miami community because data gathered during the Census determines how $675 billion in federal funds will be invested in communities across America for new roads, educational programs, healthcare and other important areas. The more City of Miami residents participate in the 2020 U.S. Census, the more likely Miami is to receive a greater share of these funds to improve the local community.
