Care Resource and Food-for-Life Network food bank partnered with the 9 Mile Music Festival
Care Resource and Food-for-Life Network food bank partnered with the 9 Mile Music Festival in together eliminating malnutrition and improving upon the health and overall quality of life of South Florida’s communities in need. When attendees purchased a ticket, they had to donate four non-perishable food items. From this collaboration, an incredible 7,000 cans were collected for Food-for-Life Network, Inc.
“This donation will help the food bank tremendously. We see approximately 100 clients a day. We give free Grocery packages. Each one contains seven days’ worth of food. Home delivered meals and groceries are available for those who qualify. Clients with dependent children are provided additional food items to allow them to feed their dependent children, ensuring adequate food for an HIV infected parent.” – Valjean Brookins, Food Services Supervisor with the Food for Life Network.
In addition, AIDS Walk Miami was front-and center-during the 9 Mile Music Festival. Attendees in the crowd either proudly wore an AIDS Walk Miami sticker, carried and AIDS Walk Miami fan or heard about AIDS Walk Miami and Care Resource from the music stage.
“The 9 Mile Music Festival was a unique opportunity for Care Resource to further cultivate a culture of awareness and prevention. I encourage all of South Florida to come out and fight AIDS on April 23rd at Soundscape Park in Miami Beach. One can donate to support their family and friends, start a team, join a team or simply register as an individual or sleep walker by visiting aidswalkmiami.org.” – Ramona Daniely, Marketing and Development Assistant, Care Resource.
Thank you 9 Mile Music Festival staff and attendees for coming together with Food for Life food bank and Care Resource in gathering thousands of cans to further fight hunger, in improving overall health in our community and in promoting AIDS Walk Miami.

The festival maintains a tradition of collecting canned goods upon admission, to continue efforts to give back to the community.
