South Florida Gears up for the 29th Annual AIDS Walk Miami 5K walk-a-thon fundraiser
Care Resource is presenting the 29th Annual AIDS Walk Miami on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at SoundScape park located on 500 17th Street in Miami Beach, FL.
Robbin Simmons, Emmy award-winning reporter at Channel 7 NEWS is serving as the Master of Ceremonies for her third year in-a-row. Robbin Simmons has covered several major stories, in and outside of the Sunshine State.
According to Simmons, “I am proud to have been selected as Master of Ceremonies again for this year’s AIDS Walk Miami. We can truly find a cure when all of Miami comes together.”
According to Rick Siclari, CEO, Care Resource “We will walk again in honor of those affected by this condition. With the progress that continues to be made, we are hopeful that sometime in our lifetime that there will be a cure.”
During the post-walk ceremony, a community health fair with a variety of activities for families and the community is available for attendees.
The community health fair, shortly after AIDS Walk Miami, includes an inflatable boxing ring, pet adoptions, free wellness screenings, HIV testing, basketball carnival games, fun giveaways, dozens of booths with information about available Medical and Support Resources and more. Walkers are encouraged to visit every station at the health fair and complete a “health passport,” which they obtain after the walk. Each participant receive prizes and incentives for their participation.
“The post walk ceremony is going to be exciting. There is a diverse array of stage performances. Performances include the brother/ sister band – “The Dagers.” The duo has been singing, starring in commercials, composing songs and performing in various venues in the greater Miami area. The ceremony includes performances from the Norland Middle School Magnet Dance Program led by Rosalyn Sanders, an alumnus of the famed Alvin Ailey dance troupe. The 29th Annual AIDS Walk Miami is a 5K (3.1 miles) walk-a-thon fundraiser benefiting Care Resource and Food-for-Life-Network. All funds raised from AIDS Walk Miami are used in Miami-Dade and Broward to help our diverse communities in need. The Walk starts and ends at SoundScape Park in Miami Beach.
