The first ever REVAMP project challenges current FIU students to compete and redesign American Social Bar and Kitchen’s indoor and outdoor Brickell location.

Red Bull has partnered with American Social Bar and Kitchen to give 28 students an opportunity to participate in a landmark initiative that will showcase their world-class design acumen at one of Miami’s most popular establishments. The students are part of the University’s renowned FIU: By Design and the Department of Interior Architecture program.

REVAMP, powered by Red Bull, will give the interior designers-in-training the chance to use their imaginations in redesigning the interior and exterior bars at American Social Bar and Kitchen’s location in Brickell. The seven teams, comprised of four students each, will work on a three-week Design Charette.

Throughout the three weeks, each team develop their ideas into a series of design proposals that will be presented at different stages of the Design Charette. The final goal of the Charette is to reimagine indoor and outdoor spaces that will ultimately become features of the popular restaurant’s decor.

“This is the first time our students have participated in a project for an actual client so early in their studies,” said Katie Rothfield, Senior Instructor, FIU Interior Architecture Department. “It is an incredible opportunity for the students to merge design theory with its practical application, and there is nothing more exciting than seeing your designs come to life. We are eager to see our students’ design proposals, and we look forward to the unique experience of working with Red Bull and American Social.”

The Design Charrette held its kick-off at the start of FIU’s Fall 2018 semester with an on- campus meeting followed by a site visit to American Social. Over the course of the project, students will gain first-hand knowledge and experience in every step of the design process, from initial client meetings, to the development of detailed drawings equipment specifications, to the presentation of their final design proposals. American Social leadership will brief students on their initial vision, general project parameters and guidelines for a successful implementation.

American Social is very excited to partner with Red Bull and FIU,” said Paul Greenberg, Managing Partner. “This project is a combination of teamwork, collaboration, and fun. American Social is thankful for the opportunity!”

Red Bull is proud to give FIU students the wings to work on a real-world project and bring their design dreams to restaurant reality. REVAMP will further assist in building the students’ portfolios and providing them with unprecedented experience at an early stage of their design careers.

REVAMP begins on August 23, 2018, and the winner will be announced on September 6, 2018. The buildout of the REVAMP project will come to fruition January, 2019. Red Bull is set to host an unveiling celebration to showcase new American Social bars. For more information or interview opportunities contact .
